MASI uses Zeffy, a free membership management platform specially designed for non-profits, like us! Zeffy helps us keep track of membership, manage Darter subscriptions, and keep our membership list current and they do not charge us credit card processing or other fees for this service.

When signing up for a membership with MASI, Zeffy will ask for a donation to support their platform. This is entirely OPTIONAL, and you can set your donation amount to ZERO. This does not change your level of membership. We do encourage a small donation, as the platform is providing us services that typically cost a lot and this is meaningful for a small non-profit like us.

International Impact
The MASI Challenge is a program to raise funds for a worthy goal in the realm of aquatic preservation and conservation. MASI has helped raise funds for the conservation of Australian Rainbowfish, Amazon River preservation, and local programs, like our recent effort to support the effort to preserve the Lake Sturgeon.
MASI also supports local and small-scale efforts, whether this means working with a school to organize an aquarium project, or supporting local institutions that need expert guidance on aquatic husbandry and care.
Community Perks
MASI members also receive discounts at most of the area fish stores and often receive special offers from local and even national vendors.
In addition, MASI periodically holds special events for members. This includes group trips to public aquariums and events, social gatherings, our annual pot-luck Christmas Party, and other events. We're a community of friends, a social club, and MASI members can take advantage of opportunities to get to know each other and socialize with those with similar interests.
Voting and Governance
MASI members aren't simply subscribers to a service, they are members of a democratic organization. Every member has voting rights in elections and other club decisions, helping to shape the organization and its role in the community.

Family = $25.00 - Voting Membership w DARTER for 2 Emails. (Both voting parties must be named and provide emails.)
Auctions and Swaps
Each year, MASI holds 3 auctions, and 3 swaps. MASI Auctions feature fish, plants, invertebrates, and aquarium equipment from members and local vendors, offered through both traditional and silent auction sales. Our annual swaps are essentially sales where members, non-members, and local vendors can purchase tables to sell fish, inverts, and plants to visitors. While non-members can participate, members have advantages when it comes to participation and can help to make these annual events a success!
Darter Magazine
Membership in MASI includes a free subscription to Darter Magazine, one of the best aquarium magazines in the nation, rivaling for-profit publications in quality of both content and design. The Darter is published 6 times per year featuring content from members, scientists, and writers from around the world.
HAP and BAP Programs
MASI's Breeders Award Program (BAP) and Horticultural Award Program (HAP), challenge MASI members to cultivate aquatic plant species and to breed fish, earning rewards for certain milestones, and helping to gather and share important information on the management of species and how to help them thrive in captive care.
Our HAP and BAP programs are recognized as among the best and most active in the country and many other clubs nationwide have modeled similar programs after our programs. Have fun breeding and cultivating plants and share what you've learned with people who will get just as excited!
Our meetings are held once per month, typically on the third Thursday, at Jost Chemical Plant (170 & St. Charles Rock Road), beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Meetings begin with a short business meeting, informing member of council activity and progress on club programs, including MASI's famous Breeders Award and Horticultural Award programs.
We hold monthly Virtual Bowl Show competitions where members can submit short videos of their fish, with a monthly theme, for a chance to win a prize.
Most of our meetings then showcase a featured speaker, in our Talking Tanks Series. MASI has hosted many different speakers, including internationally known YouTube personalities, professional aquascapers, fish scientists and conservationists, and experts in all kinds of fish, invertebrates, and other aquatic creatures.
After our speaker series, we hold a small auction featuring fish and plants turned in for our HAP and BAP programs.
Non-members are invited to come to a meeting as our guests, and spouses and friends of members are also welcome to attend. We look forward to getting to know you.
